FURTHER Prayer Request and Update for:
Rachel and her family

I had asked you to pray for a little girl named Rachel...Please continue your prayers for her and her family....They are very concerned for her...The doctors can't seem to find what is causing her tantrums.....it seems they have ruled out anxiety or bi polar....

IM praying through the intercession of our Lord Jesus for blessings and protection for this little one....I was led to give her the Miraculous Medal to wear every day...
I believe with all my heart...God does turn all to good for those who love Him...
I see where her parents concern may be bringing them closer to Christ...

All in His timing....

So please pray for all concerned....

Blessings

FURTHER Prayer Request and Update for:
John, Cardinal/Helen & Pooja Botschka; and others
Newaygo, Michigan

dear family and friends.
thanks for your prayers. Keep them coming..... John's knee is healing ...culture did not grow anything so that is good and covered with cipro antib......Next he and I had to go for blood work today..We only got one back which was our A1C (tells you where your sugars have been running) John had been in the 6-7-8 numbers..... their normal or below is 7 ... she said I have 7 seconds go go .......wow .....5.9 excellent and then it was John's turn ....unbelievable 5.9 to match me... the nurse said you both must be eating the right food. John has never been below 6 so he was a happy camper.. As for his leg.. still making adjustments and he is wearing it sitting down for a few hours and then tries to stand and march maybe 10 marches and then has taken 30 steps... but found that his heart does not like that much and slept all afternoon, after supper and bedtime.. soo
it will be a slow long process to build up strength and yet not tax his heart .....so one day at a time ... all in God's hands and plans. We go to see Dr. Ron on the 9th for all the test results............
As for Pooja we are working on all her paper work for her disability and should be almost settled.
Our Dr. Ron said he is doing well. Taking his chemo.. and yes it wipes him out by end of week... but heard he saw 80 people in 3 days so he is still helping out so many older people etc..so keep him in prayers.
Please keep Lainey,Byron , Brother Bruce, Ginny , Sis Rusty,Dave and Barbie and so many more people who are so very sick. Thanks.
Happy September and the colors are beginning to peek out..
Thanks for your prayers.

FURTHER Prayer Request and Update for:
Berto and his family

Harriet, below is a big PRAISE THE LORD! from Berto's family. The Lord is worthy of all praise and glory! Thank you all for your faithful prayers! Be blessed! ~Millie Ramos

Thank you again for covering my husband's uncle in prayer and for lifting up the family. We are amazed at what the Lord is doing and will continue to do. Thank you, Lord!

Very good news, everyone. Berto is in stable condition and getting better with each passing day! Thank you, Lord. The nurses keep telling the family that what they have seen is nothing short of a miracle. They truly did not think that he would make it to last Wednesday (Saturday was a week since the accident). The swelling is slowly subsiding, he opened his eyes on his own, they removed the tubes (not too sure if she was referring to the feeding or breathing tubes, or both), and the skin is beginning to heal, slowly but surely. All in all--we are witnessing a miracle! Remember, the medical experts were the ones who spontaneously uttered, "Only a miracle could save him." And guess what? A miracle has saved him, thanks be to our Mighty God. My mother-in-law and her family send their thank yous and heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has been praying. They thank God for each of you. Please know how much this means to all of us.

Bless you, ~Norvis Esponda

We all thank You Jesus for what You have done for Berto, and we ask that You continue Your good works in him...

In Jesus' Name we ask this of You Father...bill m

Kylie and Margie

Please pray for Kylie and Margie, and send on to others.
God Bless!
~cardinal

Dear Friends and Family,
In the past few days, my mother has started to feel pain which is exacerbated
by the constant "itchy" feeling on her skin. I am taking every palliative
measure I can to help with the latter and have requested a prescription specifically to help with that. She is getting a pain medication, too. The problem is that mom is so extremely susceptible to any type of sedation that I have to be very careful she is not over-medicated and unable to respond or to eat or drink safely.

Kylie is not doing very well yet...... she is still having stomach pains and throwing up, combined with a fever (much lower than b4) and a cough. She seems to have a full-blown cold now, on top of everything else,
and I think the mucus collects in the back of her throat and
chokes her. She can't blow her nose and has taken a number of steamy showers to help open up her respiratory tract. The ER doctor assured us that the antibiotic she is on will address both the UTI and her respiratory issues.

Please keep both my mother (Marge) and little Kylie in your tho'ts and prayers.
God bless.....Carole

FURTHER Prayer Request and Update for:
Holly, her baby...and others

Please keep praying for Holly. They removed one breast and some lymph nodes. The lymph nodes are cancerous so she will have to have the other breast removed and her female organs. They will begin Chemo hoping the baby will stay safe until the 7th month and they will take him at that point unless she cannot tollerate the chemo. Just pray that the baby will stay safe. Keep him healthy. Her mother says Faith in Jesus is holding them together.

Cardinal, we are keeping you, John and Pooja in our prayers daily, also our other prayer warriors who are facing illness and trials in their lives right now.
Love you all!

FURTHER Prayer Request and Update for:
Tess

Dear friends,
I sent the request for prayer to 480 people and dozens of you replied that you would be praying rosarys and novenas for Tess. I received this update this morning. Please keep storming heaven for her full recovery.
Thank you, Victor. I spoke to Kate Mariapa this morning. The surgeons have successfully operated on Tess to remove a potential fatal blood clot and although she is a bit confused (probably due to post-surgery brain swelling) and can’t remember the accident, the doctors are not worried about that and are not doing any more scans at present, which presumably is a good sign. Tess is also very tired but so far it’s positive news. They are monitoring her very carefully and not giving any estimates of either recovery or relapse at this stage. Kate is very appreciative of all the prayers. Rod

PRAISE REPORT!!!

Thank you Harriet, Sharon, Judy and all other Prayer Warriors for your wonderful prayers.

Obviously they were heard cause my brother did not need a pacemaker after all. (He had never had a heart condition before). A cardiologist was consulted and he determined the morphine he was given for the pain was the reason for his very low heart rate. They proceeded with the surgery to install a pin in his hip. Apparently the hip socket was not fractured in the fall and didn't need a total hip replacement.

I just got off the phone with him and said he is now recovering and has already started physical therapy. He also said he will be going to a Rehab Hospital for a couple of weeks for daily P.T. Praise God!

Again, thank you so very much. My family also thanks everyone for the prayers.

With Love,
~Faye

PRAISE REPORT!

Thank you, everyone, for your prayers for Kylie! I truly believe that they made
a decided difference in the outcome last night. The doctor wanted to go ahead with a CAT scan so they gave Kylie the contrast material to drink (egads!) and it made her sicker! She just could not get it down! Then the doctor came in about 2:30 AM and said.... "never mind"..... evidently, after two more urine tests, they had changed her diagnosis to a urinary tract infection, despite her not exhibiting the normal symptoms. There were a lot of white cells in her urine. So..... they gave her a bag of IV antibiotics to start her off well and a prescription for the same thing to take at home. The first one she had been given on Thursday night was nasty tasting and caused her to throw up! They sent her home about 4 AM! She is still uncomfortable right now,
but she is on the road to recovery, thank God!

Thank You, Blessed and Risen Savior, for hearing our united prayer.

They are planning to do some more test and do another mri of the pituitary gland. The adrenal gland tumor may be the source, but they want to make sure. FURTHER Prayer Request and Update for:
Lynn Settle and her family

Hi.. Lynn didn't have the surgery today. The Neurosurgeon reviewed the MRI she had previously and ordered the Contrast w/dye CT Scan. Kim (Riddell), my niece, sent the following from Lynn's mother Peggy and it explains the outcome and the date that is now scheduled for this serious surgery. Please keep her on your daily list because this aneurysym seems to be growing faster than they thought.Again, I agree in prayer for Lynn's healing and her protection as she waits for the surgery.
In Jesus name. amen and amen

~Virginia

Hi.. just wanted to add another child to Lynn. Didn't know but she is the mother of THREE children so please pray for Lynn and each of her three children through this ordeal!
love you
~Virginia

From Peggy to Kim:

We saw the neurosurgeon in Charlottesville he seems quite capable. First he could see from the MRI that it was a questionable area but he wanted another test to be sure it truly is an aneurysm so we went for a contrast w/dye CT Scan. Back to the the office and he said it IS an aneurysm and it IS 10 MM large which is LARGE so they were scheduling surgery and he would be going through the groin into the brain and fill the aneurysm with platinum and also will be putting in a stint. He does not think this is causing the headaches but she will be having a CT SCAN every 6 months than every year for at least 10 years. So the nurse practitioner came back and the date for surgery is TUES. SEPT. 7th @ 7 am and she would be going to ICU after surgery but recovery should be no more that 2 weeks. SO WHY so long to wait AGAIN it appears it has grown in two weeks but he said he couldn't be sure of that from the MRI but anyway it is scheduled with his surgical team that are familiar with the procedure blah blah blah and he gave her a prescription for something to thin the blood that he wants her to start taking 9/1 for 7 days before surgery. So we are back to wait, minimal activities and if it were to burst!!! call 911 asap. So please continue prayer. Love, Peggy

I really wanted this email to be interesting and a little wordy and humorous, but I figure I should just get to the point...

Had the PET scan Monday morning...
Didn't glow in the dark Monday evening...
Saw Dr Saab this afternoon...

The CA 19-9 test for cancer was NEGATIVE!
The worrisome spot on my liver & close to my heart hasn't grown!!!
The PET scan was NEGATIVE for cancer!!!!!

Dr Saab figures it's just a cyst. He asked if I still had an appetite and if my bodily functions were okay. Donna said she asks me that every day, sometimes numerous times in a single day. Dr Saab said, "You let him be. Let him go do his work."

So, everything appears to be a-okay. Have the next routine CT scan mid-November.

THANK YOU for all your prayers and support!

GOD IS GREAT!!!!

Praise report from Pat Coldwell about Erik. ~Cheryl
Kendall talked to Marcia tonight and Erik is doing just fine. He may be able to come home on
Thursday or Friday. Marcia was sitting next to his crib and he was just chatting away and she looked up and saw that Erik had pulled his IV out of his arm. A little bit of blood but they weren't concerned because it was to come out anyway. He seems very alert and happy. He's still on a little oxygen and just tylenol for pain. Isn't that remarkable!! We knew he was tough! More later...Liz

Dear Prayer Partners, Sorry I'm late on this, just been so busy.
I failed to inform all that Donna had a minor Relapse of her MS last Thursday. Was seeing double & very dizzy. Got her in Monday to see her MS doctor & he immediately sent her to the hospital for 3 days of Out-patient IV steroid therapy. Only takes an hour to do each one so Wed. will be last. She said double-vision had gone away this evening & was not as dizzy, thank God. Keep her in prayer that she returns to her normal self after this 3rd IV on Wed.

MESSAGE FROM KAREN
Here's another update since seeing gastro doctor Friday!
He has me doing a camera test today, swallowing camera and hooked up to monitors for the day. He's hoping it will show the small amount of my stomach that the colonoscopy and endoscopy didn't show! Then on Wednesday I will have another colostomy done. I've been on a clear diet since Sunday at noon and will stay on it until Wednesday. He still doesn't have anything to label me with. He wants to think that this camera test will show signs of Chrones in that small area that hasn't been seen. I'm suppose to go have pre-op done on Friday for the laparoscopy that I'm suppose to have done on the September 9th. He doesn't want any surgery done until these results are in. He's afraid to cut me open and spread something that he's not pin pointed yet. So now I just have to wait until he gives the go on the laparoscopy. My time to get that done is slim cause my OB-GYN doctor goes out of town and I won't be able to get it done until middle or end of Oct. Billy's date to leave for Texas is Nov. 27th so now everything is cut to the edge of timing. This is all for now! Thanks for keeping up the prayers, GOD is watching over me with open hands right now!
Love you all, ~Karen

Dear Family and Friends.
We need some extra prayers as John bumped his knee on the door in bathroom on Sat. .He did not check it, nor tell me as he does not feel things.Well yesterday when I got him up to stand on his new leg. oh my goodness..he has a 2 inch long sore. and a few little sores around it too...that now I have to do dressing changes having pain and have sent pictures to his doctors...to see about antibiotic or what. We cannot let knee get infected as we know where that will lead.......one leg amputated is enough... he only has a little stump on this right leg that he has left........it seems we just get almost to our goal and then we hit a bump in the road.....so once again I have to give it to the Lord and know it is in His hands and plans and trust Him to help me to take care of it.......
thank you for the love , support and prayers and you all have ours too.
so many friends are so very,, very sick. Asking God to answer all the prayers and He knows who they all are.

Hi everyone, here is the update from the girls, Sara still need lots of prayers.
~Chris

Hi all,
Mom went into surgery a bit ahead of schedule at about 11:15 this morning and surgery finished around 6pm, it was more extensive than planned. Here is the detailed update (will also be posted to Caring Bridge):

Mom is out of surgery, it was about 6 1/2 hours. The surgeon just came out to talk to us and let us know that the surgery went well. She does have Ovarian cancer and he got everything that he could see. It was a very extensive surgery and he removed her spleen, a section of tissue near her ribcage, and part of her colon (but was able to reconnect it back together) in addition to the total hysterectomy. He also removed some lypmh nodes and sent them to the lab for testing. We will get more information in a few days about the stage/grade of her cancer but he thinks it is stage 3.

She is a good candidate for getting a port installed by her ribcage for chemotherapy but he needs to make sure everything heals fine and then will do that via an outpatient surgery.

She lost a lot of fluids so she may have to stay in Intensive care tonight. We both think that would be good, except that we probably will not be able to spend the night with her.

We will get another update in about two hours when she is out of the recovery room and able to see her. We are both anxious to see Mom and tell her how much love has been coming her way today.

Note: I forgot to mention earlier that Mom has allergies and is terrified of how painful sneezing might be for awhile so please do not send flowers to the hospital (unless they are edible or fake). We will be decorating her room with pictures (mostly of Ashley :)

Thanks again for all of the support. Love, Jayme & Jodie

MESSAGE FROM LIZ AND KENDALL
Went to Children's today and spent some time with Erik, Marcia, and Todd. Erik had an arrhythmia this morning with high blood pressure. The top chamber of his heart was a little off; blood not flowing as it should. The doctor sedated him and used a machine to give him an electric jolt. It worked just fine but he slept the entire time we were there. The doctor gave him medication that made sure he didn't remember this experience since it was painful. This was just a little bump in the road to recovery but as the days go by he will be just fine.
David has been such a great kid and we've enjoyed having him. Todd will pick him up on Tuesday and go back to the hospital. Marcia will trade places and come back to Greeley with David.

Okay, I've decided the medical industry is modeled off the military... hurry up and wait. After getting to the biopsy in fairly quick order, now I get to wait for a PET scan. Here's the skinny...

Donna and I went to the hospital today and got in first thing. They hooked me up so I could get my loopy drugs when the time came and wheeled me into the CT room. I'm thinking CT has to be better than ultrasound till the doctor dropped by and told me, "No. I will be able to get a better look at the spot for the biopsy through an ultrasound." So, they wheeled me to the pit area (where all us speedsters on gurneys were waiting for our turn in the testing area). Just as I was getting comfortable, they wheeled me to the ultrasound room. The guy did his job and called the doctor who pointed out the spot is up right under the diaphragm, too close to the heart for a needle biopsy. So, I went back to the pit area, back to the waiting area and out of the hospital to home. And, I'm still coherent! Rats!

While we were there the doctor called Dr Saab and suggested a PET scan should be the next step. Dr Saab agreed, so we are now waiting for the HMO to authorize that test. We don't know where or when the scan will be performed. It would be great to go back to Good Samaritan, but we just don't know. If the PET comes back positive, we will be looking at a laparoscopic procedure to get the biopsy. So, we've gone through the hurry up and are back to waiting again.

Thanks for all your prayers. God knows where all this is going. We just have to trust His perfect will and the plans he has for us. Hang in there.

God bless,
~Bob

He was lucky at breakfast to get double yolk eggs.. ..first we have seen in 2010...
This will be his process to get ready to walk. He puts on his right brace and prosthesis which that is 1/4 of a foot and no toes so is made inside his shoe. He has not wore this brace/prosthesis for over 18 months as that amputation took place in 2008. This is about a size 5 shoe made into a size 10 to match his other new leg for "Buddy".
They redone his first brace /prosthesis. The suction cup has a pin in it and this holds his stump in. He can't believe he has 2 legs again.." are they really mine? " he says. He then proceeded to get up and stand for the first time at home with both prosthesis and his new black shoes.
We then went to the kitchen and he walked 15 steps......"good going
dad " said Pooja ,the photographer...Then it was time to rest. Phew legs were tired ( not strong and will have to build up strength which will take quite awhile)
You can see the bottom of his new shoes and then he pushes pin to release his stump and takes it out slowly as the pin holds the stump in.
Yes it is quite a process. He said he will need extra time to get ready when he starts to wear both prosthesis.
We thank God, our doctors, surgeons, therapist who all helped John to get to walk again and thank you to each and every one of you and all your prayers that have helped us get thru all the surgeries and stress and sores and healing.
This will be the last Shutterfly for awhile as now it is just repeating of what we did today, see the therapist every Tuesday and be real careful for no sores........if this happens then we are put in a hold pattern til they heal which we are trying to avoid.
Thanks once again for taking that walk with us to get John to walk again...now it is a very slow process to build the strength for the legs and also for the skin to toughen up as we have been told your leg was not made to walk on and it takes alot of hard work and pain and determination .... and that he has.My John is the kind of guy you give him an inch and he takes a mile. lol They have told him he will have a good day and then maybe the next will be a bad day and has to rest.
The therapist said "eagle eyes" meaning me will be watching his skin very closely and that I surely will be watching closely and trying to prevent sores.
If anything happens will let you know. thanks again and our prayers
are with you all too with your pain, suffering, goals etc.
God Bless
John, Helen and Pooja

Also pray for his comfort as his pelvic bone is very brittle and he is unable to put any weight on it & the pain is terrible at times when he moves his left leg any at all.
I'll send out update once I get the results of the PET Scan. Thanks for your continued prayers for Gary & his concerned family. May the Peace & Comfort of God surround us all.................Bill

Hi Grannybuns,

I want to thank all the prayer warriors that have been praying for me in regards to my kidney stone pain. Praise God the extreme pain stopped on Sat. and I was able to go to church on Sun. But the stone has not passed and I do have pain still just not as bad. The stone is in the bladder now. So I need more prayer as I am going in Thurs. at 12:30 for a surgery to remove the stone and get it over with! I know that God can move mountains, so I pray that the stone be moved before the surgery, in Jesus name!

Thank you prayer warriors, to God be the glory!

Below is a note our daughter-in-law Karen wanted me to send you all:

Bill here is an update as of today!
Yesterday after being released from Winder-Barrow I went to my primary, Dr. Bob, he is keeping me going on my pain meds and night meds! I will see him again on the 31st. Since the meds I take are so strong I can only get 2 weeks supply at a time. If I have to go stronger I will be going to pain specialist.
Today I saw my OBGYN, Dr. Bailey! I will be having laparoscopic surgery and appendix removed on the 9th of Sept. We are hoping this will help with my pain and if while he's in there and runs into any infection he will have top surgeon with him to catch whatever they see. I am having this done cause I can stay on the prednisone for this procedure. If it comes to having a hysterectomy then I will have to be off the prednisone for a month and since its what keeps me from being sick then we are going to stay away from it as long as possible.
Friday I go to gasto, Dr. Williams, and I hope he sees things my way about the prednisone so I can stay out of hospital. I was told by one of his partners, she came in while I was at hospital, that Williams is wanting another colonoscopy done next week. I'm going to try and have it done on Wednesday the 25 cause Billy leaves on the 26th for 2 weeks at Ft. Stewart!.
This is all I have for now and will update anything that comes along. Thank you and everyone that has kept this prayer going for me. Without God in my Heart I know all of this would be alot harder than what it is!
Love You all,
~Karen Gabbard

He's still in a world of pain. He did call the orthopedic surgeon this morning and they got him in at 1pm. We went to his place at 10:30 to help him get ready. He's left handed and that's the shoulder he hurt. Poor guy...mom gave him a partial sponge bath and "washed" his hair with a wet washcloth. I think he did feel better when we got done. I also brought him a shirt of Larry's that buttoned down the front.....a larger size than the one Mike had and it worked just fine and he was happy with the look! LOL

He goes back to the doctor next week. He has to make a decision. Do nothing and hope it's healed in 6-8 weeks and if it's not, then do surgery and take another 6-8 weeks to totally heal. Or do surgery and get it over with. I don't know what he's going to do. He said he would do some research and then decide. If it was me, I would have the surgery. Get it over with and know things will be put together right in the shoulder. He did tear all the ligaments and tendons.....there is nothing holding the collar bone together. Say a prayer to help with his decision.

The surgeon also gave him a better pain pill and that should really help him get some sleep. The Vicodin was wearing off after three hours. The Percocet (sp?) will last longer for him.

Love you,
~Mary Ann

Arvin
Please tell Ann and the others that Arvin, my father in law, has made a 100% recovery as of last night. Prayers cause miracles. Also, Stephen's niece is a nurse at the hospital and she told her mother that if Arvin's personal doctor had not taken care of him at the hospital, the on duty doctor would have done nothing to help Arvin but instead just let him die. His personal doctor did everything to get rid of the fluid around his heart and clear up the infection that he had. Personally, I think that if someone knows a doctor is just letting the elderly die because they are old, this should be reported.

Thanks for all the prayers

if my husband gets this position. PLEASE PRAY FOR US. I put it ALL in God's Hand's. My family, the car & job.

Please remember us in your prayers today. This promotion would be such a big blessing for us. I've been praying about this for 12 years. Yes...it's been 12 years but I'm stubborn. I'll keep praying till the cows come home.

I'm sending out this brief update on Mom. As if things weren't bad enough, she has had a reaction to one of her current medications (or a combination of them) and has a heavy red rash on most of her body and some itching. The infectious disease doctor stopped what she was taking and re-evaluated her based on new information from the cultures. At this time they do know that there is at least two different infections going on and the antibiotics have been changed accordingly. Additional cultures will not be able to be read for another day or two.

Dad decided that he wanted to go see her, so I took him this afternoon. When we first arrived at 2:30pm Mom was unable to remain awake, her color was not good and she was extremely weak and could barely be able to be heard when speaking. I left my sister and Dad there while I went to get my back treatment at the pain clinic. Dad was obviously shaken by Mom's condition.

When I returned at 5pm, she awakened and was assisted to the bathroom. After being repositioned in the bed and propped up more she became more responsive. Her color was better and she cut a few of her one liner jokes and smiled some. This made Dad much happier and he began to chat with her.

The course of conversation eventually turned to golf...my dad's favorite subject. There is a local man who is really moving up in professional golf and Dad has been following him. She mentioned that there should be a golf game on and began to flip the tv stations. When she found it, Dad turned and looked at me with a grin and said, "we may be here awhile". I was quite fine with that. (Note: Mom does watch golf with Dad at home from time to time, but it must be REAL love to be that sick and flip to a golf game that she knew he would like! As I told some people...there is a fine line between true love and insanity...today proved that to me! LOL!!!)

During the game her dinner tray came and we got her to eat a small amount. She has no appetite right now so it has really taken some coaching to get her to eat. We try hard to go for close to half of what she is served. She is drinking lots of fluids now so they have discontinued the IV solution for dehydration.

Dad decided to leave after getting Mom to eat and was hoping that maybe she would fall back to sleep and get the much needed rest that she needs. I think it did them both good to see each other today. Depending on how each feels and the outside weather will determine when I take him back for another visit.

When it was time to say good-bye, I stepped outside the room but still overheard a part of their conversation. Most people know that they have had more than their share of hard times, hard work and major issues between them over the years. However, they have been together for about 60 years now...dating for four years before marrying 56 years ago. After all these years, each completes the other and they both seem lost when the other is not around.

After witnessing these acts of love between them, I came home and loved on my own husband. I reminded him of just how much I really do love him...and I know for whatever crazy reason...he loves me too. I pray that we have that between us for many, many years to come.

While Mom & Dad watched the golf game, I sneaked a picture on my cell phone and thought I'd share it with all of you who are praying for us...and let you know how much we appreciate those prayers and your love.

Will update more as I am able -
Cheryl

Hey Everyone!

We've been listening to Final Jeopardy music for the past few weeks (you know the music they play while the contestants are writing down their question for the final answer). The surgeon, Dr Lopez, wants me to get another CT scan the end of September. The oncologist, Dr Saab, returned home from vacation a couple weeks ago and gave Donna a fright. He went into the office Sunday afternoon to catch up and prepare for the coming week and, after looking at my most recent scan, called our house to give me the results. Of course, your oncologist NEVER calls on a Sunday night unless the news is bad--at least that's Donna's reasoning. Fortunately, it was news we already had (two spots on the right lobe of my liver and one on the left). Unfortunately, the call took about five years off Donna's life. We keep this up and we will have to worry about more about Donna's health than mine.

The news now is Dr Saab has decided it would be a good thing to perform a needle biopsy on at least one of the two spots on the right lobe of my liver. (The left lobe of my liver is actually kind of "shriveled". Dr Lopez noted that in his zeal to get all the cancer, he may have compromised that lobe, so it's not functioning very well. It make sense because he said he took a LOT during the operation. That's okay with me because I haven't noticed any problems as a result.)

So, I will visit Riverside Community Hospital this coming Thursday morning for an ultrasound and the biopsy. Donna and, I think, Becca will be along for the ride. They said I will need a ride home, so I guess they are going to be either knocking me out or making me loopy. (Wait a minute! I'm told by a lot of "friends" and "relatives" that's my usual state. Oh well, at least I'll have an excuse this time around.)

Isn't it amazing how I can write four paragraphs for not having much news?! Imagine what you'd have to put up with if I really had something to say.

(Okay... make that five paragraphs.) I don't know if we will get the results on Thursday but I'll be sure to pass them along when I get them. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated Thursday morning. While you're at it, please pray for healing for Kristie who is battling cancer at multiple locations in her body and for Barry's (my brother-in-law) leg. His most recent surgery appears to have been successful. Now he just needs more bone growth before they can start physical therapy.

Thanks much and God bless.

In Christ, Bob

There is no infection, they are just pressure blisters. It's from being on my feet for a couple of hours in just my yard shoes while I was staining doors the other day. Doctor says to keep the one dressed until it starts drying up and then let air dry, also to stay off the feet for a few days to let them heal. Go figure feel good and try and get something done outside and end up down again! Oh, well. Happy just to know that there is no infection.

I called the doctor and they are scheduling me for a surgery but not till next Thurs. which means I wait and suffer or by the grace of God the stone will pass before then.

I would really like it to be gone, the pain has been for 9 days in a row now. I praise God for everyone’s prayers and for the strength He has given me to make it thru each day.

Francis and her papa
Oxnard, California

Family and friends:

It's going on 6 years since my papa came to live with me. And so much has changed. I never know what is going to happen, with papa, so I take it one breath at a time. Last night, as usual, I tried putting papa to bed but his little legs couldn't make the necessary steps to help me. I had no choice but to ease him down to the carpet. It was too late to call my neighbors so I dialed 911. I told them papa was fine but that I needed someone to help me get him up. about 15 minutes later the a fire truck with three firemen came and picked him up........Praise God........ I put papa to bed and we both went to sleep. This morning it's if it never happened.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers, we need all that we can get. Thank you.............

It's no wonder that the poem of day hit me right between the eyes *big sigh* and a few *sniffles*

I'm In Your Hands Lord

Lord, I am going to trust You
like I have never trusted before.
I am going to put into practice
all I know, now even more.

I have lived a simple life, I
am not out looking for fame.
With no guarantees that life, as
I know it, would stay the same.

There is a sun above the dark cloud
that stands in the way of what I see.
So let it shine, in my heart, while I
wait what you have planned for me.

I will not question why this sudden
change? Because I know better than that.
There is a reason for all things,
and besides I can wear many hats.

I am amazed at what I can do, I will
not let this change make me feel small.
I will not surrender to the enemy's
lies because He only wants me to fall.

I will take it one day at a time,
stay as close to You as I can.
I am going to be all right as
long as I am in Your hands.

Jimmie Tyner and his family
California

Thanks so much to everyone for your continued prayers and support for
my Dad, Jimmie Tyner. He went to be with the Lord yesterday at 3:50. My
biggest praise is that he prayed to accept Jesus in his heart before he
passed away. That had always been my biggest prayer - that God wouldn't
take him until he had his heart right with God.

Amazingly he didn't suffer much and for that we also praise God. In the
beginning of summer he was actually feeling better and getting stronger
so we were able to take a much treasured family vacation driving
through many beautiful states so that we could get to the only one my
Dad had never been to; North Dakota. He really seemed to be doing fine
until last week when he pretty much made the decision he was ready to
go. I think he had made his peace with God and decided he'd rather be
on the other side. He said he was tired of fighting the sickness, that
he lived a good life, had a good family and was ready to go. He also
finally became vocal about his faith giving us the peace that he is
with Jesus now.

I appreciate you all more than you know. Your prayers to the Lord on
our behalf helped sustain us.

God Bless!

Shane Vargas

Update 8:30am Friday

I just finished talking with Debbie on the phone... she is grieving for her son...during the night one of Shane's lungs collapsed...they are putting in chest tubes to try and re-inflate the lung.

Please Prayer Warriors, won't you all gather together in spirit and pray earnestly for this young man? I have known him since he was very young...Fred & Debbie's faith is strong...there are no answers...

I ask that you all pray that there will be no lasting effects from the brain injury, and that God would begin to heal him and bring him out of the coma state...also, and foremost, that God would place on Shane's heart the real need to return to Jesus' flock and once again be in His fold...Shane once knew Jesus... I refuse to believe that through all of the drugs and the way Shane has been living, that God has given up on him...No!

God Loves us too much...He hates our sin, but Loves us beyond our own understanding...so there it is, plain and not so simple! Now I ask that you all do with this information what you are moved to do...Do it in Jesus' most precious Name...Thank you, bill m

Lord God in Heaven, again I reach out to You for Shane...please Father, begin to heal him...hold him up Father...heal not only his frail body, but heal his spirit, bring him back to Yourself, as he once was...I'm sure You Love Shane still, through all his misguided activities of the last several years... i call upon You now, to come to his aid as You would for any of Your children...

In Jesus Name i humbly ask these things of You, Amen

FURTHER Prayer Request and Update for:
Sue Essary and her family
Mount Vernon, Indiana

Hello, dear Prayer Warriors!

Things are a bit more settled right now and I am finally able to sit down and write an update on mom and get it out to you. Several of you already have been praying for her and we appreciate that so much. So that everyone will know what is going on, I thought I’d compose this letter and send it out so that as many of you as I can reach will have more details and can then pray as your heart directs.

As many of you already know, mom has several chronic problems and due to a weakened immune system she has been prone to have bouts of cellulitis in both legs. A few weeks ago she began having symptoms and antibiotic treatments were begun. After three rounds of treatments her doctor advised that the next course of action would be hospitalization for the stronger IV antibiotics. Mom was strongly opposed to this for a variety of reasons. (Foolish ones to many but important to her. In retrospect, instead of honoring her decision, I should have immediately taken her to the hospital.)

On Monday the pain and inflammation became so bad that she saw the doctor on call since her regular doctor is out of town. He wanted her to be hospitalized so that she could be started on the IV antibiotics. She refused and instead chose the option of an injection and some oral meds. She was told if she was not significantly better by the next day that she would have to be admitted. She agreed to that. Unfortunately, on Tuesday morning she called and asked me to take her to the hospital. The doctor had already called to have her as a “direct admit”. When I arrived she was in another bout of the chills and I took her temperature and it was almost 103 so I directed dad to call for the ambulance. They arrived literally moments later (advantage of small town living) and transported her to the emergency room instead of the admitting office.

I arrived at the hospital a short time later and met her in the emergency room. (The care she receives at this hospital is remarkable and I give thanks to God for all the people who go into this line of work and their dedication to people.) Many tests were immediately performed, including blood tests, and we waited. Shortly thereafter I was called to the phone to speak to her admitting doctor and was told the infection was in her blood and that she would have to be admitted to ICU for treatment. The next two days have been quite stressful for all of us.

My sister, who is also a nurse, met me at the hospital and we spent the night in the family lounge seeing her whenever possible. During the night, Mom’s fever spiked to over 104 and Cathy assisted the staff in using ice packs to get the fever down. That fever broke but she still has an elevated temperature. However, since she has spiked no more she has been moved to a regular room.

Although not all results from the cultures & tests have come back, there is no doubt that this will be an extended stay for her in the hospital. (Let this be a lesson to all as to what stubbornness can get you!)

We are all just so VERY grateful for the many personal and online Christian friends she has and for all the prayers she is getting. As I said to some, she is now where she needs to be, getting the meds she needs and is basking in all the many, MANY prayers on her behalf. Please feel free to add her name to any other prayer chains you may be connected with. We realize that she is certainly not “out of the woods” yet...but there is a small light peering at the edge of the forest!

During this time, my dad has remained at home as his health is not good either. The stress of his illnesses and of not being able to tend to mom is really getting to him. I ask that you keep him in prayer too, as well as humbly asking for prayers for myself - that I will continue to be able to have the strength and ability to care for both of them.

I am going to copy/paste this to several, however, please realize that my online time will be more limited and I may not be able to answer each of you directly. However, know that we covet the prayers and I will continue to update (as I am able) any changes with mom and/or dad.

May God continue to bless each of you as you are certainly a blessing to so many others!

In His love – and mine, Cheryl

FURTHER Prayer Request and Update for:
Jimmie Tyner, and his family
California

Dear Praying Friends,

It was heartbreaking to see my dad today. His conditioned has worsened
greatly. His liver is shutting down and he is retaining lots of fluid.
Amazingly his left lung is still totally clear and his kidneys are
fine, but his liver isn't working and the doctors and nurses say he has
only days left. He sleeps most the time but manages to wake each time
one of his kids or grandkids comes near the bed, just to greet them and
then he goes right back to sleep. He's nervous and doesn't like to be
alone.

The good news is that he loves when the pastor visits. Back in May the
pastor shared the gospel and my dad let the pastor pray with him.
Yesterday when the pastor visited, my dad told him he has since said
the prayer a few times himself but wanted to pray it with the pastor
one more time just to make sure he was going to heaven. I can't tell
you how thankful i am that my Dad has actually gotten to a point where
he wants to verbally express his faith himself. Also my sister said
that yesterday my dad startled out of a deep sleep and loudly said,
"I'm born again!" and then he fell back asleep. My biggest prayer has
been that the Lord would not take my Dad until he was for sure going to
heaven. I'm so thankful that my dad is drawing close to Him. Please
pray for God to comfort my dad and that his passing would be peaceful
and painless.

My heart also breaks for my younger sister's kids. My younger sister is
a single mom and she and her kids live with my dad. To them my dad is
more like a dad then a grandpa. He has been their consistent and stable
support. They are taking this especially hard. Please keep them in your
prayers.

In Christ!

~Tricia

Pepper, Anna's faithful canine companion

Thank you all,
Pepper is doing better, his ears are better just got to clean them
once a week. He is clear of heart worms, praise God. He does
have lots of bullet fragments in his body, they will later on all come
out like this one did, in a lump on his body, first it has to be drained, then cut, to remove the bullets pieces. Jaw is healed, praise God. So he's doing good, he's eating well, drinking water.
Thank you for your prayers, I know God was listening to you,
because Pepper is doing better.

Hello Prayer Warriors,

Please continue to lift up Karen in your prayers. It seems like every day she is dealing with this painful kidney stone issue. She can feel good for the moment and later she is feeling the pain again. Karen is still having problems and not getting much sleep due to the Kidney Stone problem. Says the stone has moved to her bladder, per her doctor. She is still taking the medication flomax for this and it is making her feel lousy at times. Please pray that the stones would be washed out of her system. All stones gone and no more meds to take in regards to this.

Hi Grannybuns,

Please pray for me as the kidney stone has not passed yet. The stone although has moved from half way down my side and is now in the bladder, so since it has moved the doctor said rule of thumb is we wait and try to let it pass verses doing any surgery. I have had quit a bit of pain today with little help from the pain meds. I also had to take more med closer and now I feel gross. Please pray in the mighty name of Jesus that this stone would come out and be gone, and that the pain would be gone!!!

Thank you mighty prayer warriors,

Please keep the prayers up God is Awesome! Thank you Prayer Warriors. ~Tish

NOTE FROM IRENE Just wanting to thank all of you for your prayers- God is definitely working! As of a few days ago, Shannon was moved to a regular room, is off the ventilator, taken the tube out of her throat and is breathing on her own. She is also awake, aware and able to talk! This is HUGE progress from ICU not too long ago. She knows the gravity of her injuries and the horrific accident that she was in and knows that her life was spared.

She's in really good spirits, even smiling and joking. Please continue to pray for her as she makes her way to complete recovery. She cannot open or use her right hand...the doctors think that that may change once her right arm is healed. She is having physical therapy and they are having her try to walk although it is very painful for her.She still has a tube in her lung but most of the other tubes have been removed. I will keep you updated on her condition. Please continue to pray for her & our family. Thanks again!~Irene

MESSAGE FROM JIM
Went to see Linda this afternoon. She was having a cat scan when I got there. After she got back to her room, she seemed to be resting more comfortable than she was yesterday. The doctor than did the cat scan came in later and talked to us. He said there were numerous spots on her liver and that he is 95% sure that it is cancer. The only way to find out for sure is to do a biopsy and wanted to know whether she should have treatment that would be worse on her in her weakened condition. He personally recommended against it and if no treatment is done, then there would be no need to do a biopsy. He also said it was possible that there are spots are her lungs, too. They would keep her fed and comfortable. We pretty much agreed with his recommendations. However, we will wait to see what the other doctors have to say.

We don't know any time frame or any other details at this time. Please keep her in your prayers. ~Jim

Sue went to the doctors today and the doctor gave her an antibiotic injection and if she doesn't respond to it she will be admitted to the hospital tomorrow.
Her daughter is quite concerned and ask me to place her back on the prayer list again. I don't understand why she wasn't admitted today as her lungs are also affected as well as the cellulitis, unless she refused.

Please dear Lord, we need healing for Sue and for Sue to understand the importance of being treated properly with Iv's and antibiotics and being monitored by staff 24-7.
We thank you Lord and praise you for hearing our prayers once again through the Mercy Stripes of Jesus, your Son.

Cardinal, I just got this from my brother concerning my sister. ~Pearl

UPDATE 2.
I was talking to Wayne when the doctor from the nursing home called and said Linda has pneumonia and suspect that she may have liver cancer. He wanted to know if Linda should stop breathing, if we wanted to put her on life support and I told him that Wayne was on the line on my cell phone, so I talked with him. We agreed that due to the circumstances that she has, that it would not be a good idea to put her on life support. Do you agree with that? That was why I was trying to get you on the phone. I guess the results of the cat scan will determine all that.
~Jimmy

UPDATE 1.
Went to see Linda this afternoon and she was asleep most of the time. The doctor I talked to the other night came in while we were there. He said he is having a cat scan done either this afternoon or tomorrow depending on availability of staff to do it, but then the doctor that will do the cat scan came in and said it would be tomorrow. He said there are still liver abnormalities and will probably do a biopsy later in the week depending on the cat scan results. She did not seem to be sleepy restfully, but that may be the way she normally sleeps. ~Jimmy

FURTHER Prayer Request and Update for:
Jimmy Tyner and his family
California

Dear Praying Friends,

We took the family trip to North Dakota to help my Dad fulfill his
dream of being in all 50 states. We had a caravan of four cars. The
trip was great fun and the kids enjoyed being able to spend time
exploring the US with their Grandpa. My dad enjoyed the trip, but it
also tired him out a bit. Once back at the home, he rested and regained
some of his strength and seemed to be doing ok.

We were up with him last week and were trying to arrange for my sister
to drive him down to Southern California to spend some time here with
us. It's been an unusually cold summer in Napa and my dad won't go
outside unless it's super warm. It seemed he was getting a bit
depressed sitting in his chair all day so we were thinking coming down
to Southern California and being in the sun would help him a bit.
However, a few days after we left, his condition worsened and he said
he was too weak to come down. Then today my other sister sent an email
saying his edema is spreading all over. He often swells in the lower
half of his legs and in his hands but that has been it. However now the
edema has spread all the way up to his thigh and his liver is also
swollen making us wonder if the cancer has spread there. They couldn't
give him the IV treatment this week because he already has too much
fluid build up. Instead the doctor prescribed a diuretic. My dad took
the pills himself today and thought it said he was supposed to take
three (it said he could get three refills), but he was only supposed to
take one. My sisters were concerned because his blood pressure dropped a bit, but it seems he will be OK from that. However the bigger concern
is that even though he took a lot of the diuretic, his body is still
retaining lots of fluid. We fear his kidneys may be shutting down. I
remembered that happened with my mom before she died.

We love our dad a lot and of course will always pray and hold out hope
for a miracle of healing. We know God is capable and could heal him if
it is in His will. We also know that he is almost 80 and it might be
close to his time to go. He's still nervous and afraid and that's very
sad to see. Please pray that my Dad will totally turn to and lean on
God for his strength, peace, and comfort. Also please pray for family
unity. Having a ill parent can cause a lot of stress and it can create
tensions. I keep praying that if it's not God's will to heal my dad
that at least He won't take my Dad until my dad is at total peace with
Him.

Thanks so much for your prayers!

Blessings!
~Tricia

Aunt Mary, also for Major Shawn Swanson

Hi Everyone..

Happy Summer! I have a prayer request for my Aunt Mary (she's an awesome 93 years YOUNG). Growing up--she was like a Grandmother to me (she's actually my Grandmother's sister).

She fell a few weeks back and severely injured her knee--currently she's in a rehab facility in August, GA. The knee is not healing quickly enough for her to be released--so she will have to stay there for another 4 weeks. She's a native New Yorker living in Augusta--so you know how feisty she is!! Please pray for healing so she can go back to being her ole feisty self.

Also, a few weeks back I asked for prayers for a HS friend of mine; Major Shawn Swanson (he was in a car accident with injuries so severe that he needed to be put into a drug induced coma). I'm happy to report that the latest news is that he is doing phenomenal! Looks GREAT and moving forward in the right direction! GO SHAWN!!

Thanks again to all the Faithful Prayer Warriors!

UPDATE FROM TODD
Todd was able to go into ICU and visit with Bill this afternoon, he was also able to obtain more information for us.

When Bill was in the Cath Lab they cleared some of the blockage so that he has better blood flow, however they missed one area. Bill will be going back into the lab tomorrow morning for another procedure. Please pray that they will be able to successfully clear that artery also. Prayers to reduce Bill's anxiety are still needed, he hates being in the hospital, once his children, Justin and Jessica are able to see him, he will settle down. I am praising God and marvel at how he orchestrated all of this. Thank God Bill was in the hospital when the chest pains started and not at home alone.

UPDATE FROM PASTOR COULTER
Pastor Coulter was in ICU as the Technician was administering a dialysis treatment to Bill Medlen, Medlen actually relaxed and fell asleep. Pray that they will be able to completely repair the fistula, it is not working to it's full potential and they are considering moving it to his neck. Please pray that will not be necessary. Pray also for his wounds to heal quickly and completely and that there will be no complications because of the diabetes.

Update: it was found that Bill suffered a heart attack while in the cath lab getting his fistula repaired. Back to the cath Lab for the 3rd time in 2 days. A stint was placed in the lower portion of his heart...

Melissa Bowman, and her family
California

Greetings family and friends...
NO Cancer!! praise God. Melissa had her biopsy report appointment today and they found no cancer cells in the lymph node that was removed last week.
We still have a medical journey ahead of us as they need to go back to the drawing board to find out what is causing these lymph nodes to increase in numbers and in size. The report did show some staph bacteria so that needs to be investigated. She will now go back to the primary doctor who will then refer her to another specialist...possibly an infectious disease Dr or a hematologist - it will be up to the primary doctor of where we go from here.
Her incisions are looking good from her surgery last week and he said she seems to be healing well. She will still be down this week needing help with kids/husband/driving/household etc etc. I will take more time off work this week to assist her and Brandon.
Thank you to each one of you for all of your prayers. Our prayer request for her now is wisdom that will lead the doctors to the cause and treatment for her.
Melissa will update the caringbridge web site with more details.
In His Love and Grace

She was laying on the floor next to our bed. I know she had just died because her dear little body was still warm. The night before was special because she allowed me to sit on the sofa with her so I could pet her. You know the feeling you have when your beloved doggie lays her head on your leg. That was the moment we said good-bye. My husband, Rev and I decided to allow her rest forever in our back yard. That way we can visit her often. When we got Rosie almost 4 years ago, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer. I can honestly say she was cured of cancer, by the Grace of God and all the wonderful love and time Rev spent with her. Thank you to our wonderful prayer partners. You helped to give me 4 wonderful year of unconditional love...just like Jesus gives us. I send my love especially to Harriet, Billy, Anna and Marian. Your prayers these last few years have meant so much to me.
Love, Gail Robinson, Ventura, California
